Composting organic waste is one of the cheapest and most effective ways to mitigate climate change by lowering landfill methane emissions and sequester carbon.
We’ll deepen our understanding of how to participate in composting organic waste from kitchen scraps and garden debris. We'll explore organizing various trashy receptacles for all the trashy things to make your low waste efforts as accessible as possible. Then we’ll use some of those trashy things to dye a cotton scarf – from trash to wearable, adding to healthier soil and cleaner air through the process!
All materials will be provided. Participants are welcome to bring yellow or purple onion skins for use in their ecoprint dye, but not required.
Tickets available here.

The Dundee-Memorial Park Association will be holding its candidates Forum for the upcoming City of Omaha general election on Monday, April 14, 2025 at 7:00 pm. It will be held in the cafeteria of Brownell-Talbot School (400 N Happy Hollow Blvd). The parking entrance is at Happy Hollow Blvd and Chicago St.
Both mayoral candidates have confirmed their attendance as have candidates for the Omaha City Council from District 1 and District 3.
In past years, we have had candidates make presentations at one of our association meetings. When we have a large number of candidates, the presentations have run quite long which is not fair to the candidates who go last. For that reason, we have been using a community forum format. Each candidate will be given a space in the room and people will be allowed to go from candidate to candidate and talk with whom they wish to get more information and ask questions. There will be NO candidate speeches. This has proven easier for voters and candidates to have more one on one time and not force people to listen to candidate speeches for offices they may not be able to vote.
